Welcome to The Gap Counselling. These terms and conditions govern your use of our website and any counselling, coaching, training, or related services booked with us.
By using our website or attending a session with The Gap Counselling Ltd, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to these terms in full. If you do not agree, please do not continue using our site or services.
PART 1: Website Terms of Use
These clauses apply when you browse or use our website at www.thegapcounselling.com and any associated subdomains, including our LearnWorlds course platform.
1. Definitions
In this Agreement, the following terms shall have the following meanings:

“Account”: The personal information, payment information, and login credentials used by you to access paid content and/or any communication systems on our website.

“Content”: Any text, graphics, images, audio, video, software, data compilations, downloadable documents, and other information appearing on our website.

“Facilities”: Any online tools, services, or information The Gap Counselling makes available via the website now or in the future.

“Services”: The counselling, coaching, courses, training, and other professional services available to you through this website or in-person.

“Payment Information”: Any details required for purchasing services, including but not limited to credit/debit card numbers, bank account numbers, and sort codes.

“Premises”: Our registered business address at 85 Great Portland Street, First Floor, London, W1W 7LT, and our in-person location(s) in Mallorca, Spain.

“System”: Any online communications infrastructure we provide, including booking systems, contact forms, email, and live chat.

Users under the age of 18 may only use our website or services with the supervision of an adult. Payment details must be provided by, or with the permission of, an adult.

3.1 Except where otherwise stated, all content on our website (including text, images, logos, videos, graphics, and underlying code) is the property of The Gap Counselling, our affiliates, or relevant third parties. Such content is protected by UK and international intellectual property laws.

3.3 Third-party intellectual property (including course material supplied under licence) remains the property of its owner.

4.2 Linking to our homepage is permitted if done legally and fairly. Linking to other pages (“deep linking”) requires our written permission.
5. Orders, Payments, and Cancellations via the Website
5.1 Placing an order or booking through our website constitutes a contractual offer. We will confirm acceptance by email, at which point a binding agreement exists.
5.2 All pricing is stated in GBP (with euro equivalents where applicable) and correct at the time of publication. We reserve the right to change prices without notice, but confirmed bookings will be honoured at the agreed rate.
5.3 If you cancel within 14 days of booking and your service has not started, you are entitled to a full refund. Once services have begun, our Counselling Terms & Conditions (Part 2) apply.
6. Privacy and Data Protection
6.1 We process your personal data lawfully and securely in line with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
6.2 Our full Privacy Policy forms part of these terms and explains how we collect, store, and use your personal information.
7. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability
7.1 While we aim to keep our website accurate and available, we make no guarantee it will meet your requirements, be error-free, or operate without interruption.
7.2 We accept no liability for any direct or indirect loss arising from use of the website, except where prohibited by law.
8. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
PART 2: Counselling Terms & Conditions
These summarised terms apply to anyone receiving counselling, coaching, or therapy services from The Gap Counselling Ltd. A full version of our counselling terms and conditions will be provided upon request/booking.
1. Scope of Agreement
This agreement is between you (the client) and The Gap Counselling Ltd, which may provide your service through one of its qualified counsellors, coaches, or trainees under supervision.
2. Professional Standards and Insurance
All counsellors are qualified, insured, and adhere to the ACCPH Code of Ethics. Trainees work under supervision and to the same ethical standards.
3. Confidentiality
3.1 All sessions are private and confidential. Case material may be discussed anonymously in supervision for professional development.
3.2 Exceptions to confidentiality include where there is:

Risk of harm to yourself or others

A legal requirement to disclose information

Concerns about the welfare of a child or vulnerable adult
4. Appointments and Session Structure

1-2-1 Therapy: 60 minutes
-
Couples/Family Therapy: 75 minutes
-
Under 18s Therapy: 50 minutes
Session time is reserved exclusively for you, regardless of attendance.
5. Cancellation Policy

A minimum of 48 hours’ notice is required to cancel or reschedule without charge.

Missed sessions or late cancellations will be charged in full.
6. Fees & Payment

Full payment is required in advance for all services.

Pricing is published on our website and may vary depending on the counsellor/coach.

For block bookings, sessions must be used within 6 months unless otherwise agreed.
7. Duration of Counselling
We recommend an initial commitment of 4 sessions for therapy (or 8 sessions for coaching), after which progress will be reviewed. You are free to end therapy at any time.
8. Boundaries and Social Contact
To protect the therapeutic relationship, counsellors will not engage socially outside of sessions or connect via social media.
9. Endings
We ask for at least one week’s notice when ending therapy. Sessions may be terminated without notice if a client is under the influence of substances or behaves abusively.
10. Data Protection (GDPR)
We store your personal information, health details, and session notes on secure, GDPR-compliant systems, including Kiku (our client management system).

Data is retained for 7 years after your last session (or until a minor turns 25).

You have the right to access, correct, restrict, or request deletion of your data.

You may withdraw consent for data processing at any time.
11. Consent
By booking and attending sessions, you agree to these terms. While we prefer signed agreements, attendance constitutes implied consent.
